Tech Vision Talk: Using Wearable Data to Empower Individuals in Managing Their Health
Abstract: The Covid-19 pandemic has catalyzed a shift in healthcare; people are demanding more personal, engaging, and holistic care. Consumer wearables are in a position to make a big impact on how individuals understand and manage their health. Now much more than a simple step tracker, a wearable device can be used to monitor sleep, exercise, and physiological parameters like respiratory rate and temperature. In this talk, we’ll discuss the broad capabilities of wearable devices, explore a framework for detecting Covid-19 using an optical sensor, and examine how wearable data empowered one individual in seeking treatment for an illness.
