Professor Margot Gerritsen

Margot Gerritsen was born and raised in the Netherlands, and after getting her PhD at Stanford, she.spent time in New Zealand in the Department of Engineering Science at the University of Auckland, returning to Stanford in 2001 as faculty member in Energy Resources Engineering. Margot specializes in the development of computational methods for renewable and fossil energy production. She is also active in coastal ocean dynamics and yacht design, as well as several other areas in computational mathematics including search algorithm design and matrix computations. Margot also Chairs the Board of Trustees for SIAM (Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics). 

Cindy Orozco Bohorquez

Cindy is an applied mathematician with experience in numerical modeling, data science, optimization, and parallel computing. She is originally from Colombia, where she did a bachelor's in civil engineering and mathematics from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, in Saudi Arabia, and a Ph.D. in Computational and Mathematical Engineering from ICME at Stanford. She is passionate about teaching data science to a broad audience, including low-income Colombian high school students and decision-makers from Silicon Valley. She loves the support and camaraderie in the WiDS community. She works as a machine learning solutions engineer at Cerebras Systems.
