Marisa Torres has been a bioinformatics software developer at Lawrence Livermore National
Lab since 2002, specializing in sequence analysis for pathogen characterization and assay design.
She’s excited to be making drug discovery computational models for the Accelerating
Therapeutics for Opportunities in Medicine consortium. Her recent work includes developing
proteomics tools for human forensics and building a database for detecting genetic engineering.
Marisa has a MS in Biomedical Informatics from Stanford. She has a BA in Molecular and Cell
Biology and minor in Computer Science from UC Berkeley. Marisa is interested in killing
diseases with really big computers. She enjoys mentoring students and learning in reading
groups. She’s a Girls Who Code volunteer and sings in choir.
