Karen is Executive Director, External Partners at Stanford’s Institute for Computational and Mathematical Engineering (ICME). She leads relationships with companies interested in collaboration with ICME around research, curriculum, engineering events on campus and recruiting. Karen is also an Instructor of the new AI for Good seminar series at Stanford, and an Advisory Board member of the Stanford Catalyst Initiative for interdisciplinary research. Karen co-founded and serves as co-Director of the Women in Data Science Conference.
Karen has extensive experience in business strategy and marketing at leading high-tech companies from start-ups to Fortune 500’s. Previous roles include among others: Director of Marketing Strategy at Cellular One Wireless, Consultant to the Stanford Graduate School of Business establishing entrepreneurship programs for students, Lecturer at Stanford, Innovation Partner at SRI International, and global product management positions at Apple Computer. |
She has also been a Principal at Indigo Partners consulting firm since 2001. Karen has lived and worked in a number of countries including Japan, Australia, UK and the Netherlands. Karen holds an MBA from Stanford University and a BS in Systems Engineering with highest distinction from the University of Virginia.
