Duong graduated from the Vietnam National Economic University in her hometown of Hanoi and received a scholarship to come to the United States for a Master of Jurisprudence majoring in Business Law at the Robert H McKinney School of Law at Indiana University. After working as a financial analyst for the Indiana Auditor of State, she developed an interest in Data Science and started her Master in Data Science degree at the University of British Columbia. Her research interests include natural language processing, recurrent neural networks, and unsupervised learning.
By organizing the Women in Data Science event at UBC in Vancouver, Duong hopes to encourage more women to enter the field and support the data science community in her city by connecting people with the same interest. This event will be a great opportunity for data-science enthusiasts in Vancouver to come and listen to the latest in data science-related research and applications for a broad set of domains.
