WiDS Datathon 2022

Hone your data science skills with the WiDS Datathon, joining teams in a predictive analytics challenge focused on social impact. The WiDS Datathon 2022 will focus on the environment and climate change. Details will be announced in November, and the competition will begin in January 2022. Winners will be announced at the March 7, 2022, WiDS Worldwide conference at Stanford. If you’d like to participate in the WiDS Datathon, sign up for the WiDS Datathon mailing list to be notified when registration opens this fall.

In 2021 the WiDS Datathon had record-breaking participation, with 1,773 individuals on the leaderboard, 24,479 entries, and nearly 4,000 registrants — forming hundreds of teams to analyze hospital patient health records. View the results.

How it Works and Who Can Participate in the Datathon

The WiDS Datathon is hosted on Kaggle, an online community of data scientists. If you haven’t participated in Kaggle competitions before, check them out here — the platform has a ton of complex challenges with real-world impact and starter datasets for learning data science basics.

We invite anyone from those new to data science to veterans of the field to participate. For those who have never tried machine learning, we have a series of guides to help you get started with the algorithms and dataset.

The WiDS Datathon inspires women worldwide to learn more about data science, and to create a supportive environment for women to connect with others in their community who share their interests. Toward these ends, we open the datathon to individuals or teams of up to 4; at least half of each team must be women (people identifying as women). Participants can be students, faculty, government workers, members of NGOs, or industry members.

Want to participate? Join the WiDS Datathon mailing list to receive datathon news and announcements. Registration opens this fall!

The WiDS Datathon is a collaboration led by the WiDS Worldwide team at Stanford University, and the WiDS Datathon committee.
